For the first time, an international Test match will be played at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The pitch here has been used for domestic cricket. The pitch in Barsapara is made of red soil. It’s unclear what the pitch will be at this time. However, according to cricket experts, the pitch could be quite slow.

The pitch is likely to assist spinners, proving a plus point for Team India. ODI and T20 matches have been played here. Accordingly, the new ball favors fast bowlers. Therefore, fast bowlers can take advantage of the moisture. Batsmen are also expected to receive some assistance from this pitch early in the match, while spinners benefit from the old ball.

It is worth noting that when Rishabh Pant, who is set to make his Test debut, takes on world champion South Africa in the second Test at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday, the Indian team will be under pressure to level the series. Shubman Gill has been released from the team due to a neck injury.

In Gill’s absence, Pant will become India’s 38th Test captain. This will be a true test of leadership for Pant, especially at a time when the team’s home defense appears to be weakening and batting against spin has become a major issue.
