According to the statement released by the ICC:

  • Six nations each will participate in the men’s and women’s categories of this mega-event.
  • The tournament will feature representation from the continents of Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania.

LA28 Cricket Qualification Process Explained

The ICC has outlined two primary pathways for the selection of the six teams:

  1. T20 Rankings and ICC Tournaments (5 Spots): Five qualification spots for each event will be determined based on existing ICC tournaments and T20 rankings.

This process will be conducted in accordance with the pre-approved Future Tours Programme (FTP).

  • ICC Olympic Qualifier 2027 (1 Spot): A special ICC Olympic Qualifier will be held in 2027 to determine the sixth and final spot.

These 4 Teams Have Already Secured Their Spots

  • The Race for Olympic Medals: Following the group stage, the top two teams will clash for the gold and silver medals, while the teams finishing third and fourth will compete for the bronze medal.
