Most Sixes in T20 History: Pollard Joins Gayle in the Elite 1000 Club

Most Sixes in T20 History: A monumental record has been set in the history of T20 cricket—one that seemed unimaginable just a few years ago. West Indies’ explosive all-rounder Kieron Pollard has reached a milestone in the T20 format that only one other batsman in the world has ever achieved. Pollard has completed 1,000 sixes in his T20 career, and the historic record held by the ‘Universe Boss,’ Chris Gayle, now appears to be under threat.

Although Kieron Pollard has retired from international cricket, his batting prowess remains formidable in T20 leagues across the globe. Playing in Major League Cricket (MLC), Pollard reached this magical figure with his explosive batting. He has now become only the second batsman in the history of T20 cricket to smash more than 1,000 sixes.

Pollard began his T20 career in 2006, and ever since, he has been amassing huge numbers of runs and sixes in franchise cricket.

Chris Gayle vs Kieron Pollard

A comparison of the statistics reveals that Chris Gayle smashed 1,056 sixes in just 463 matches, a testament to his incredible batting prowess and strike rate. In contrast, it took Kieron Pollard 746 matches to reach this milestone.

However, an interesting aspect is that while Chris Gayle has retired from competitive cricket, Pollard remains active and continues to play in leagues across the globe. The gap between Gayle and Pollard now stands at just 55 sixes.

Given the form Pollard is in, it would not be wrong to say that he could soon surpass Chris Gayle to become the world’s leading batsman in terms of sixes hit in T20 cricket.

Andre Russell, who holds the third spot on this list, is also making rapid strides. Russell has hit 792 sixes in 600 matches and is on the verge of joining the exclusive club of Pollard and Gayle in the near future.
