Luke Ronchi took over as the full-time batting coach of the Black Caps in 2020, replacing Peter Fulton. During his six-year tenure, New Zealand cricket achieved numerous historic successes on the international stage, and Ronchi played a pivotal role in guiding the team through its most glorious era.
Key achievements of Ronchi’s tenure:
- Won the inaugural ICC World Test Championship (WTC) title in 2021 by defeating India.
- The New Zealand team reached the T20 World Cup final twice.

India vs New Zealand Series to Be Ronchi’s Final Assignment
The home series against India, scheduled from October 22 to December 1, will be Luke Ronchi’s final assignment as batting coach for the ‘Black Caps’. Once the series concludes, he will head to Australia to join the Melbourne Renegades.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) stated that, keeping upcoming crucial international matches in mind, they will initiate the process of appointing a new batting coach at the appropriate time to ensure a smooth transition and avoid any disruption to the players’ performance.
