India A Squad for Australia A Series: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) men’s selection committee has announced the India A squads for the upcoming home multi-format series against Australia A. The entire series will be played in Puducherry, featuring two four-day (multi-day) matches and a three-match ODI series.
Captains Announced: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devdutt Padikkal to Lead
The selection committee has appointed different captains based on the format:
- ODI Squad: Opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has been handed the reins of the 50-over team, while Devdutt Padikkal will serve as his deputy (vice-captain).
- Multi-day Squad: Devdutt Padikkal, who recently scored two centuries during the tour of Sri Lanka, has been appointed captain for the four-day matches. Sai Sudharsan will serve as the vice-captain.
Hardik Pandya Returns
The biggest news regarding the ODI squad is the selection of star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, although his participation remains subject to fitness clearance.
Additionally, players who have made their mark in domestic cricket and the IPL—such as Rajat Patidar, Priyansh Arya, Naman Dhir, Shams Mulani, and Tanush Kotian—have also been rewarded for their outstanding performances.
