On the very first day of India’s biggest domestic T20 tournament, which began on Wednesday, November 26, Gujarat captain and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Urvil Patel set a new record with his bat.
Scored a century in just 31 balls
Urvil Patel was in full form during the match played at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad. Chasing the target against Services, Patel scored his century in just 31 balls. This is the third fastest century in domestic cricket history.

Gujarat registered a one-sided victory
Regarding the match, Gujarat won the toss and decided to bowl first. Services, batting first, scored 182 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

- Arun Kumar scored 29 runs, while Jayant Goyat contributed 20 runs.

Chasing a strong target of 183 runs, Gujarat’s team launched a counterattack that left the Services bowlers stunned. Gujarat achieved this target in just 12.3 overs.
- Urvil Patel (119*) and Aryan Desai (60) made a 174-run partnership for the first wicket.
- This partnership turned the match into a complete one-sided affair, and Gujarat easily won by losing only two wickets.

Urvil Patel’s innings is a relief and a happy news for the five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings. The CSK management has retained Urvil for IPL 2026.
