They made their debut in 1996 and their last appearance was in 2011. They have won only two matches out of 20 they played in the World Cup, both against fellow associate teams Namibia and Scotland. History of Netherlands in the ICC Cricket World Cup

  • In 1994 World Cup, The Netherlands first qualified for the World Cup in 1994, after finishing third in the ICC Trophy, a tournament for associate teams. They were placed in Group A along with Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan and UAE. They lost all their five matches, but they put up a spirited performance against England, scoring 230/6 in reply to England’s 279/4. Klaas-Jan van Noortwijk scored 64 and Tim de Leede took 3/29 for the Dutch.
  • In 2003 World Cup, the Netherlands qualified again for the World Cup, after finishing second in the ICC Trophy in 2001. They were placed in Group A again, along with Australia, England, India, Namibia, Pakistan and Zimbabwe. They won their first match against Namibia by 64 runs, thanks to a brilliant century by van Noortwijk (134) and four wickets by de Leede (4/35). They also gave a tough fight to India, restricting them to 204 and scoring 136 in reply.
  • In 2007 World Cup, the Netherlands qualified for the third time for the World Cup, after winning the ICC World Cricket League Division One in 2005. They were placed in Group A again, along with Australia, Scotland, South Africa and Sri Lanka. They won their second match against Scotland by eight wickets, chasing down 137 with ease. Ryan ten Doeschate scored an unbeaten 70 and Bas Zuiderent made 43.
  • In 2011 World Cup, the Netherlands qualified for the fourth time for the World Cup, after finishing fifth in the ICC World Cricket League Division One in 2010. They were placed in Group B along with Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, South Africa and West Indies. They lost all their six matches, but they came close to upsetting England in their opening match, scoring 292/6 and taking England to the last over before losing by six wickets. Ten Doeschate scored a brilliant 119 and took two wickets for the Dutch.
  • In 2023 World Cup, the Netherlands will play their fifth World Cup, after winning the ICC World Cricket League Championship in 2017-18 and securing a direct qualification. They will be placed in Group B along with New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka. They will play their first match against Pakistan on October 6 at Hyderabad. Their squad consists of some experienced players like Roelof van der Merwe, Logan van Beek and Wesley Barresi. They will hope to cause some upsets and improve their record in the World Cup.
