According to a PTI report, Shubman Gill sustained the injury during a training session. A BCCI source said that Gill had a long practice session in the nets the day before the fourth match. Towards the end of the session, a ball hit him directly on his toe, after which he was seen writhing in pain and limping.

“It’s difficult to say at the moment whether he will be able to play in the match in Ahmedabad. The medical team is monitoring his condition, and no hasty decision will be taken.”
