Apollo Tyres buys Indian cricket team’s jersey rights for Rs 579 crore

Apollo Tyres buys Indian cricket team’s jersey rights for Rs 579 crore: Gurgaon-based Apollo Tyres won the final bidding round in a spectacular and unbelievable way where three brands placed bids. Apollo placed a big bid of 579 crores, beating out Canva and JK Cements’ 544 and 477 crores respectively. This sponsorship deal will last for three years. This agreement includes a total of 121 bilateral matches and 21 ICC matches, which makes this agreement a big and important deal.

Sources believe that Apollo Tyres will have to pay around Rs 4.77 crore for each match. According to the BCCI tender, the board will get Rs 3.5 crore from every bilateral match and Rs 1.5 crore from each World Cup match.

Team India New Sponsor

Under the new rules of the Indian government related to online gaming, former sponsor Dream 11 had to cancel its contract. Due to this, the board of the Indian cricket team started the process of finding jersey sponsors. Team India is seen playing without a jersey sponsor in Asia Cup 2025, but now it has got a new sponsor.

This new partnership of BCCI and Apollo Tyres will start with the two-match Test series between West Indies vs India. This series will be played in India after which the Indian team will leave for the white ball tour of Australia. In the ODI matches between India-A and Australia-A, Apollo Tyres will be seen as a sponsor on the jersey of the Indian ODI team.

Apollo’s bid and its pricing were done by Mumbai-based WPP Media. Before the bid, there was some confusion in the industry about the BCCI tender. There were reports that there would not be high demand for this sponsorship, especially after the government banned real-money gaming companies. These companies were considered to be the biggest investors in sports and tournaments in India. However, BCCI has found a sponsor who is willing to pay Rs 200 crore more than the previous sponsor, while the board’s deal with Dream11 was for Rs 358 crore.
