Aiden Markram returns home midway: The Manchester Super Giants have suffered a major blow during The Hundred 2026 campaign. Team captain Aiden Markram has left the tournament midway and returned to South Africa due to personal reasons. Officially confirming the news on social media, the franchise expressed gratitude for Markram’s contributions and wished him well. Markram, who has been part of the Super Giants family across the IPL, SA20, and The Hundred, scored 117 runs in five matches this season, including a brilliant half-century against MI London.
Jos Buttler Appointed as New Captain for Manchester Super Giants
Following Markram’s departure, the franchise has handed the captaincy to former England captain and experienced wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler. Buttler has been in excellent form this season, scoring 226 runs in five matches at an impressive average of 112. This will mark the first time Buttler takes on the captaincy role on the field since the Champions Trophy 2025.
Michael Bracewell Joins as Aiden Markram’s Replacement
New Zealand star all-rounder Michael Bracewell has been brought into the squad as Markram’s replacement. Bracewell’s arrival is expected to provide the team with excellent balance in both middle-order batting and spin bowling.
