England Women Squad for Ireland ODIs: The responsibility of leading the England women’s cricket team has once again fallen on Charlie Dean’s shoulders. In the absence of regular captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, Dean has been appointed captain for the upcoming three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Ireland, scheduled for September. Notably, Dean has previously captained England during an ODI series against New Zealand when Sciver-Brunt was sidelined due to injury. Now, she has another excellent opportunity to lead the team.

Senior Players Rested as Youngsters Get Major Opportunity

England selectors have decided to rest several experienced players for the tour of Ireland.

• Focus on Fitness: Regular captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and Danni Wyatt-Hodge are working on their fitness and recovery.
• Senior Players Absent: Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Bell, and Amy Jones have not been included in the squad for this series.

In the absence of key players, the team’s youngsters will have a golden opportunity to make their mark at the international level and cement their places in the ODI squad.

Alice Capsey to Take Up Wicketkeeping Duties

Alice Capsey has been entrusted with wicketkeeping duties in the absence of experienced wicketkeeper Amy Jones. Capsey was part of the England squad as a reserve wicketkeeper during the recently concluded T20 World Cup. Additionally, all eyes will be on the new and returning players in the squad:

• New Faces: Grace Potts and Kira Chathli could make their international debuts.

Both players have been part of the England setup this summer season.

• In line for debut: Charis Pavely, who has played two T20Is so far, is also awaiting her ODI debut.
• Return: Ryana Macdonald-Gay has returned to the squad after recovering from a lower-back injury. She has recently performed impressively in county cricket and for Manchester Super Giants.
• Spin department: Young left-arm spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman is also included in the squad; she has played two ODI matches against New Zealand.

The three-match ODI series between the two teams will be played in the first week of September:

• First ODI: 1 September (Leicester)
• Second ODI: 3 September (Derby)
• Third ODI: 6 September (Worcester)
