USA’s National Cricket League: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned America’s National Cricket League (NLC). The ICC wrote a letter to the United States of America Cricket (USAC) informing them about the decision not to approve future editions of the league. It was written in the letter that the playing eleven rules were not followed in the league. 6-7 foreign players were played in this T-10 format tournament.
The first season of NCL was held between 4 and 14 October. Chicago CC, captained by Robin Uthappa, won the title by defeating Atlanta King by 43 runs. Cricket God Sachin Tendulkar gave them the trophy.
Why did ICC ban US National Cricket League
According to ICC rules, every team playing in the league must have at least 7 American players in its playing eleven, but in many matches, 6-7 foreign players were fielded.
The matches were played on drop-in pitches that were very bad, so bad that Wahab Riaz and Tymal Mills had to bowl spin to avoid injuring the batsmen.
The league officials also broke the US immigration rules to give opportunities to foreign players. In the US, a sports category visa costs at least 2 lakh US dollars for 6 teams. To save money, many players did not come on sports visa.
