Separate Dressing Room for Vaibhav Suryavanshi?: A new star is currently shining brightly in Indian cricket. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a budding batsman of just 15, is set to join the senior Indian team on their tour of England. This is a dream come true for any young player. However, amidst this historic tour, a specific detail has garnered significant attention: Vaibhav will be required to use a dressing room separate from his senior teammates.
Let us explore the reasons behind this arrangement and other key highlights of the tour.
Why Does Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Need a Separate Dressing Room?

The reason for keeping Vaibhav Sooryavanshi separate from the senior team is not a controversy, but rather his age; he is currently only 15 years old.
- ICC and ECB Child Protection Rules: In accordance with the safety and child protection regulations of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), special arrangements are mandated for players under the age of 16.
- Player Changing Area Protocol: Under these rules, a separate and secure space will be provided for Vaibhav to change his clothes (changing area) before and after matches.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Inclusion in Team Meetings and Dressing Room Access
Although a separate changing room has been arranged for Vaibhav due to safety protocols, this does not mean he will be isolated from the team.
Vaibhav will have access to the Indian dressing room during matches. He will be fully permitted to participate in team meetings, engage in strategic planning, and hold discussions with fellow players and the coaching staff.
In other words, he will remain an integral part of the team regarding both on-field action and strategic planning.

Typically, such arrangements are not made for players’ families during international tours; however, considering Vaibhav’s young age, the BCCI and the ECB have jointly taken a significant and commendable decision.
Vaibhav’s parents will accompany him throughout the tour and stay at the same hotel as the Indian team. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed that the board will bear the entire cost of his parents’ travel and accommodation. This decision will provide the young player with mental and familial support, enabling him to focus on his game without any stress.
India Tour of Ireland and England
This tour by the Indian team promises to be highly exciting. Team India will play the following matches during the tour:
- Ireland Tour: Initially, two T20 matches will be played against Ireland. (However, it is not yet clear whether the rule regarding a separate dressing room for Vaibhav will apply in Ireland as well).
- England Tour: Following this, a high-profile five-match T20 series will be played against England.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Cricket Career

Although Vaibhav is young, his experience rivals that of seasoned players.
At such a young age, he has:
- Established his dominance in domestic cricket.
- Been part of the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, the world’s biggest cricket league.
- Played for the India A team in the recently held tri-nation series in Sri Lanka.
Can Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Break Sachin Tendulkar’s Record for the Youngest Indian Debutant?
If Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is included in the playing XI for any T20 International match against Ireland or England, he will create history. He would become the youngest player to make his debut for the Indian men’s senior team. By doing so, he could also break the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record for the youngest debutant.
