Shubman Gill Makes History in the IPL
Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill etched his name in the record books of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday. During the toss against Delhi Capitals, Gill became the second-youngest player to participate in over 100 IPL matches. He achieved this feat at the young age of 24 years and 229 days.
This achievement places Gill in elite company. Only Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (24 years and 221 days) has reached the 100-match mark quicker. Indian batting legend Virat Kohli played his 100th IPL match at 25 years and 182 days. Other notable names on the list include Sanju Samson (25 years and 335 days) and Piyush Chawla (26 years and 108 days).

“Means a lot to me (on playing 100 IPL matches), have come a long way, still a long way to go, but the focus is on today’s match. It’s cricket, there’ll always be ups and downs, you want to play the way you’re good at,” Shubman said after opting to bowl against Delhi Capitals on Monday
“We’re playing the same side. Looks like a good wicket, we’ve been chasing well in the last couple of games,” Gill added.
Following in the Footsteps of Greats
Shubman Gill’s IPL journey began with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after his exploits in the ICC U-19 World Cup. Since then, he has amassed a staggering 3,088 runs in 99 matches, including three centuries and 20 fifties. His highest score stands at an impressive 129, and he currently ranks as the league’s 25th-highest run scorer.
Gill’s consistent performances and rapid rise make him a player to watch in the years to come.
