Latest ICC Test Rankings: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest Test rankings for men’s players. Australia’s explosive batter Travis Head has suffered a setback due to a poor performance and the team’s defeat against Bangladesh in the Darwin Test.

After Travis Head lost the top spot, young English batter Harry Brook has become the world’s number-1 Test batter with 852 rating points. Despite not playing a Test match since June, Brook gained a spot without even stepping onto the field. Meanwhile, Travis Head (819 points) who scored 22 and 17 runs in the Darwin Test has slipped to third place.
Steve Smith Gains Ground While Joe Root Holds Firm
In the latest rankings, veteran Australian batter Steve Smith (833 points) has moved up to second place. Smith benefited from playing innings of 71 and 44 runs in Darwin.
Additionally, England captain Joe Root (840 points) is also in a strong position.
Three Indian Batters Feature in ICC Top 10 Rankings
Three players from the Indian team that won the first Test of the Sri Lanka tour by 165 runs feature in the top 10:
- Shubman Gill: The Indian captain holds the 5th spot with 743 rating points.
- Yashasvi Jaiswal: Occupies the 6th position with 733 rating points.
- Rishabh Pant: Has managed to secure the 10th spot with 705 rating points.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Babar Azam (716 points) is in 7th place; however, he has been ruled out of the first Test against England due to a finger injury.
Historic Victory in Darwin Sparks Big Rise for Bangladesh Players
Following their first-ever Test victory (by 9 wickets) on Australian soil, Bangladesh players have seen a significant boost in their rankings:
- Najmul Hossain Shanto: The Bangladesh captain, who scored 84 runs in the first innings, has jumped 9 places to reach the 20th spot.
- Mominul Haque: After scoring 49 and an unbeaten 30, he has climbed 5 places to reach the 31st spot.
- Cameron Green (Australia): Moved up 5 places to the 30th spot thanks to his century.
ICC Test Bowling Rankings: Jasprit Bumrah Remains No. 1

In the bowlers’ list, India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah remains the world’s No. 1 Test bowler. Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud has jumped 26 places to reach the 38th spot after taking 9 wickets in the match (Player of the Match), while Mehidy Hasan Miraz has climbed 3 places to reach the 24th spot.
